West Point Lake Fishing Report

LARGEMOUTH BASS / SPOTTED BASS - Good - For
Largemouth, fish points in the major creeks early in the
morning with worms or jig and pigs. After the water warms
up in the afternoon, move to the backs of pockets and fish
small, shallow running crank baits. For Spots, hit the main
lake points, rocky banks and shoal markers with Carolina
rigged finesse worms and crawfish colored shad raps.

STRIPERS / HYBRIDS - Excellent - Striper and Hybrid
fishing is excellent on the main lake humps, flats and also
upriver with live shad. We have been catching lots of big
Stripers up to 25 pounds.

CRAPPIE - Good - Crappie fishing is good around brush
piles with minnows. Crappie are biting best in the afternoon
after the water warms up.

CATFISH - Excellent - Fishing for big Flathead Catfish is
excellent upriver. We have been catching some nice
Flatheads up to 30 pounds in the past week. The best bait
for Flatheads is live gizzard shad or bream fished in the
deep holes. Channel and Blue Catfish are also biting good all
over the lake. The best bait for Channel and Blue Catfish is
cut shad.
